If you recently received a grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation, congratulations! What an exciting time for your organization. As you move forward with publicizing your grant, we'd like to offer a few guidelines to consider. Acknowledging a Grant
- Project was funded (or funded in part) by a (Grant Program Name) Grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation
- OR a $ (Grant Program Name) Grant received from the DeKalb County Community Foundation
- Use “DeKalb County Community Foundation” as first reference and “Community Foundation” for additional references
- Mention specifics on how the grant money will be used and the impact it will have
- Use a quote from your leadership or a board member
- Funding for our grant programs come from the generosity of donors. Thank them!
Acknowledging a Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund grant can be a little tricky since it contains the word "Foundation" in the Fund name. The information below should help to direct appropriate recognition.
Clarification on the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund:
- The Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund is a Donor Advised Fund at the DeKalb County Community Foundation
- As a Donor Advised Fund, Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Grants are made through the DeKalb County Community Foundation
- The correct logo to use is the DeKalb County Community Foundation logo
- For a personal thank you letter, please send it to the attention of the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Board of Advisors
Suggested Wording for Grant Acknowledgement:
- Project was funded by a Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
- OR a $ Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Grant received from the DeKalb County Community Foundation.

- OR $ in support through a YEP Grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation

- Mention specifics on how the grant money will be used and the impact it will have
- Use a quote from your leadership or a board member

A simple press release or photo/caption can be a great way to publicize your grant. If needed, a basic press release template, a list of local media, and a few best practices are listed below.
- Press Release Template - WORD File - Downloadable Word file
- Sample photo caption: Representatives from the {organization name} receive a check from board member {name} of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The $$$$ grant will support {the purchase, or the installation, or the project name, etc. and speak to the impact it will have}
Press Release Best Practices:
- BCC from a distribution list
- Subject line – 4-5 words – clear description of the release (could be title of newsrelease)
- Paste your press release right into the body of the email
- Include photo as an attachment
A really easy way to publicize a newly received grant is through social media. As you plan out your grant acknowledgement post, don't forget to tag or mention the DeKalb County Community Foundation.

Completing a Grant Report
After receiving a grant from the Community Foundation, we ask each recipient to complete a grant report. Grant reports are typically due one year from the grant date. Reports include an evaluation covering results and overall impact from the grant.
