Welcome, Justin Gifford!
April 8, 2026Nonprofit organizations play a vital role in shaping everyday life across DeKalb County. From social services and education to healthcare and the arts, these organizations strengthen our community in countless ways.
During times of economic uncertainty, their work becomes even more essential. As demand for services increases, resources can feel more limited. It is natural to approach giving with caution. At the same time, these moments often call for continued generosity and thoughtful planning.
As you consider your charitable giving this year, this may be a meaningful opportunity to reflect not only on where you give, but also how you give. A well-rounded approach can help you support both immediate needs and long-term impact.
Four Well-Rounded Approaches
-
Supporting what matters most
- Many donors choose to continue supporting the nonprofits they care about most. Events like Give DeKalb County on May 7 offer a simple and powerful way to do just that, connecting you with local organizations and amplifying every gift through the Bonus Pool.
-
Strengthening community-wide impact
- In addition to supporting individual organizations, some donors choose to give through the Community Foundation’s grantmaking Funds. These Community Impact Funds allow the Foundation to respond to emerging needs and direct resources where they are needed most.
- This flexible support is especially important during uncertain times, helping ensure that nonprofits across DeKalb County can continue serving our community.
-
Investing in long-term community leadership
- Some donors also choose to support the Community Foundation itself, by giving to Administrative Endowment Funds. This type of giving helps sustain the Foundation’s role as a trusted partner, connecting donors to causes, stewarding charitable Funds, and strengthening local philanthropy for generations to come.
-
A balanced approach
- Many donors find that a combination of these approaches works best. By supporting favorite nonprofits, contributing to community-wide grantmaking, and investing in the Foundation’s long-term work, you can create a giving strategy that is both personal and impactful.
