New Designated Fund Reflects Haines Community Values
January 25, 2026Please join us in saying THANK YOU to Photine Liakos, M.D. for her three years of dedicated service on the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.
Representing the Sycamore community, Photine served on the Community Engagement Committee, Community Grants Committee, and Scholarship Review Committee. Her leadership and thoughtful approach helped strengthen connections, support education, and create meaningful opportunities across DeKalb County.
One project that meant a great deal to Photine was the Community Paramedicine Program. Developed through collaboration among Board members, staff, and community partners, the program provides non-emergency, preventative care and helps reduce nonemergency 911 calls. It is coordinated by Elder Care Services in DeKalb County and the City of DeKalb Fire Department, with grant support from the Howard and Mildred Eychaner Fund at the Community Foundation.
Photine shared that serving on the Board deepened her appreciation for the people and organizations working every day to improve local communities.
“My time on the Board gave me so much insight and awareness of the many incredible organizations and individuals that strive to do so much for our local communities,” said Liakos. “It was an honor to be part of the Board and see how local generosity and involvement has such a profound impact on our community.”
We are grateful for Photine’s time, service, and lasting impact on our community. 👏
