Please join us as we say THANK YOU to Lisa Gudmunson for her time and service on the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.

Lisa served on the Community Foundation Board for six years (2019-2024), representing Somonauk. “It was truly an honor to represent Somonauk. I love where I live—it’s a wonderful blend of longtime residents, new families, and a strong community spirit,” she shared.

During her time of service, Lisa was an active member of the Community Grants and Marketing & Development (chair) committees.

“Serving on the Community Grants committee was incredibly rewarding. Reviewing grant applications and helping fulfill the needs of worthwhile projects gave me a deep appreciation for the many dedicated organizations throughout DeKalb County,” she said.

Lisa also shared her enthusiasm for her role as chair of the Marketing & Development committee: “I enjoyed contributing to the Foundation’s strategic direction and discussing ways to share its impact. The theme, ‘connecting people who care with causes that matter,’ perfectly captures its mission.”

One of Lisa’s favorite memories was attending the Community Gatherings, which took place throughout DeKalb County. “I enjoyed visiting each community and meeting new people while sharing our joint interest and pride in the county,” she recalled.

In a final question, we asked Lisa to share any final words of wisdom or inspiration. She reflected, “I will always cherish the time I spent on the Board and the friendships I cultivated with fellow members. The Community Foundation is a shining beacon for good in DeKalb County!”

Thank you, Lisa Gudmunson, for sharing your time, talent, treasure, ties, and testimony with DeKalb County. Your dedication has left a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful!
