April 1, 2024Please join us as we welcome Melissa Stoffregen, Genoa representative, to the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.
“I am proud to represent Genoa. Our little town has grown and evolved so much. Amazing businesses have opened, including a winery, a coffee shop, and several restaurants. Our downtown is in the process of receiving a refresh to many store-front facades. And our residents continue to amaze me with their kindness and community support. From raising money for someone in need to supporting the high school volleyball team as they roll back into town after winning the state title.”
Melissa grew up in Sycamore and attended Northern Illinois University. She later continued her education at the Worsham College of Mortuary Science. She joined her father’s business as a funeral director, serving DeKalb County for many years before retiring in 2008.
There is nothing Melissa enjoys more than time with her husband, Ryan, and their three daughters. She enjoys running from one school and sporting event to another. When the opportunity arises, Melissa likes to lend a hand to school activities. She enjoys history, architecture, art, and exploring her creative side in her free time.
“What I am looking forward to most as a Board member is the opportunity to learn more about the dynamic and diverse DeKalb County community. I am excited to discover more of the people, places, and opportunities that make our area so wonderful.” – Melissa Stoffregen
