Please join us as we welcome Jerry Wright, DeKalb representative, to the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.

“One of my joys in serving the DeKalb community is working with the youth. I started coaching when my kids were small and still coach today. I have loved it all, from Nguzo Saba basketball leagues to DeKalb youth football and cheer.”

Jerry grew up in Chicago. He attended Eastern Illinois University for his undergraduate degree and Western Illinois University for his graduate degree. After graduation, Jerry was a counselor for the Northern Illinois University Counseling and Student Development Center. He retired as the NIU Student Support Services Director in 2018. Jerry continues to serve the NIU Huskies as the current chaplain for the football team.

Since 2004, Jerry has been the pastor of The Rock Christian Church in DeKalb. He and his wife, Tracey, have raised nine children in this community. Jerry enjoys coaching, golf, basketball, and reading the Bible in his free time.

“I look forward to hearing about the needs of our communities and being able to address those needs through grant funding. The Community Foundation is uniquely positioned to help organizations that help our communities.” – Jerry Wright
