Thank You, George Joseph “Joe” Mitchell!January 22, 2024
Please join us as we say THANK YOU to Todd Hughes for his time and service on the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.
Todd served on the Community Foundation Board for nine years (2015-2023), representing Genoa. “It was truly an honor to represent Genoa,” he shared. “I love where I live. Genoa has a great sense of family and community engagement. It’s a wonderful place to live, belong, and raise a family.”
“I found the Community Grants committee extremely engaging,” Todd said. “Reading through the numerous grant requests from many organizations gave me a newfound appreciation for the needs and cultural interests throughout DeKalb County. I learned much about the different opportunities and challenges our local communities work through.”
A favorite memory of Todd’s was learning about the various local nonprofit organizations and meeting the people behind the scenes who oversee the excellent work of each of these organizations. “I enjoyed the excitement and appreciation from each grant request the Foundation funded. Grateful people who do great work for the betterment of our community.”
In a final question, we asked Todd to share any final words of wisdom or inspiration. He concluded, “For anyone considering joining the Community Foundation Board, I highly recommend it. What a great organization to be a part of! There is a lot to learn. The Foundation is very invested in DeKalb County, so it can initially feel a little overwhelming. Just relax and proceed slowly. Soon, you’ll develop the same high appreciation I have for the hard-working staff there. They make your service on the Board manageable and very enjoyable.”
Thank you, Todd Hughes, for giving your time, talent, treasure, ties, and testimony to DeKalb County. We greatly appreciate your commitment to the Foundation. You are a true philanthropist, and for that, we are grateful!
