This year, 132 students received over $195,000 in scholarships from Funds at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Scholarship awards ranged from $250 to $10,000 for DeKalb County high school graduates.
“I continue to be impressed with the caliber of students applying for scholarships from DeKalb County high schools and the achievements of students pursuing post-graduate degrees that grew up in DeKalb County,” said Becky Zantout, Grants & Scholarships Manager. “We hope the scholarship awards grow students’ confidence knowing that our community supports their educational and career goals.”
High school graduates (class of 2022) received $145,380 of the total scholarship awards. $31,000 was awarded to graduates from DeKalb County high schools pursuing master’s level or higher degrees, and $19,550 was awarded to non-traditional students or multi-year scholarship recipients seeking undergraduate degrees.
Scholarships are made possible by donor generosity to Funds at the Community Foundation. Donors create Funds for a variety of reasons, such as memorializing a loved one, supporting students with specific characteristics, or celebrating personal success.
Most of these scholarship awards are administered and selected in the local high schools. Students can contact their high school counseling department in the spring to learn how to apply and visit dekalbccf.org/scholarships for details.
If giving the gift of education is of interest to you, consider donating to an existing Scholarship Fund online or by mail to the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, IL 60178.
