Congratulations to Leea Perry, this year’s recipient of the Ed & Kim Kapper Physical Therapy Scholarship award. The award is made possible through the Ed & Kim Kapper Physical Therapy Fund, established at the DeKalb County Community Foundation in 2020. The Fund honors the memory of Ed Kapper and provides support for a high school graduate of a DeKalb County school attending an accredited physical therapy program at an accredited college or university.
Leea Perry is a 2019 graduate of Genoa-Kingston High School. She received her bachelor’s degree with full university honors from Northern Illinois University in spring 2022. Leea will continue pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at NIU, with graduation set for May 2025.
On her scholarship application, Leea wrote, “Integrity is a vital aspect of any healthcare profession and is especially present in physical therapy. Upholding quality in care is a standard to which I will always hold myself. As a physical therapist, I want to see my patients make progress and also want them to know that I am someone who cares, someone they can trust.”
