Community Foundation Driving Its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Roadmap
March 29, 2022Please join us as we welcome Ann Lehan, DeKalb representative, to the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.
“DeKalb is the community in which we raised our family and the community we served with our business. The people of DeKalb have such big hearts. They take care of their residents through the many nonprofits that serve DeKalb County. It makes me proud to be a small part of that mission.”
Ann was born in Iowa and is the sixth of seven children. She attended the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, and while there, she met Tim, her husband. Tim is a lifelong resident of DeKalb, and after graduation, the couple returned to his hometown to join the family business, Lehan Drugs. The couple had six children, all of which graduated from DeKalb High School. They now have 14 grandchildren.
For the most part, Ann and Tim have stepped back from the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, but it continues to be a family effort. Their ties to DeKalb County are long and deep since the family business began over 75 years ago. Currently, the fourth generation of the family runs Lehan Drugs.
Ann is now enjoying retirement and loves to travel. Her excursions are trips to visit some of her children who have moved from DeKalb. Ann enjoys attending her grandchildren’s many activities and being a part of their busy lives.
“I look forward to helping our community become stronger and better through the work of the Foundation.”
The Community Foundation Board of Directors are selected to represent communities throughout DeKalb County. The Board sets policy, formulates strategic planning, and determines priorities in grantmaking. Because of the willingness of these able, effective individuals who donate their time and talents to the ultimate betterment of DeKalb County, the Foundation continues to grow to enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
