SHS Values Captured in Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund
January 20, 2022Please join us as we say THANK YOU to Roger Maas for his time and service on the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.
Roger served on the Community Foundation Board for three years, representing DeKalb. “It was an honor to represent one of the communities of DeKalb County,” he said. “The quality of life in our county is unique with its combination of rural, city, and university communities.”
During his three years of service, Roger served on various Foundation committees, including Community Grants, Executive, Finance, and Strategic Action. He also served as Board Treasurer.
In a follow-up, we asked Roger to share a few highlights from his time on the Board with us.
“On the Finance Committee I realized how the Foundation is poised to benefit not just current residents, but also future generations,” he said. “The stewardship of Funds is a key responsibility of this committee and one that members work very hard at to ensure the future success of the Foundation.”
He went on to say, “Working on Community Grants helped me appreciate the significant impact the Foundation has throughout DeKalb County. A wide range of organizations benefit from their grant programs. Seeing the impact from these dollars is truly rewarding.”
In a final question, we asked Roger to share advice for new and future Board members. His advice included, “The Foundation continues to grow and expand its reach to the community. As a Board member, you will find many opportunities to apply your knowledge and skills for the good of others.”
Thank you, Roger Maas, for giving of your time, talent, treasure, ties, and testimony to DeKalb County. We value your commitment to enhancing the quality of life in DeKalb County. You are a true philanthropist, and for that, we are grateful!
