Excellence in Education Awards Recognize Educators in DeKalb County
May 20, 2020As many doors remain closed due to COVID-19 regulations, Fox Valley Community Services (FVCS) in Sandwich continues to find creative ways to assist their clients and the community. Parking lot BINGO and a parking lot fitness program, are just a few ways they are taking new approaches to providing care. Over the last few months, they have made over 300 wellness calls to their Adult Day Service Clients, Home Services Clients and Active Adult Participants. In addition, they have made and delivered over 800 personal masks, 20 Easter baskets and 20 May baskets to seniors and clients.
Funding for the sustainability and recovery actions, including supplies, was made possible through a $3,500 DeKalb County COVID-19 Response Grant.
Ongoing needs for FVCS include PPE for clients, staff, and participants. Staff will also need additional training when they return and go back into client homes on a daily basis. The FVCS facility will need to undergo a disinfectant cleaning service in order to reopen their doors and begin serving their clients out of the Sandwich location.
Fox Valley Community Services is committed to providing their clients a variety of programs and services vto improve and enrich vital, independent living.

Thank you to the many donors whose gifts make grants like these possible! And thank you to the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund for the multiple grants that boosted the amount we were able to give in response to local needs.
Funding for this grant program is made possible by the DeKalb County COVID-19 Response Fund, a new component pass through Fund created in collaboration with various local funding partners. The Fund’s purpose is to be a depository for contributions intended to respond to the effects of COVID-19 in DeKalb County by distributing grants that address preparedness, response, recovery, and/or rebuilding efforts.
