April 5, 2020Please join us as we welcome David Castle, DeKalb representative, to the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.
David is a lifelong resident of DeKalb with strong family ties to Sandwich where he has worked for many years. He admires DeKalb County for its wide variety of nonprofit organizations that serve so many people, both young and old, at little or no cost to those who most need these life changing services.
His board membership continues a five generation long family history of community involvement in DeKalb County. He is proud to continue his family’s commitment to public service by participating on numerous boards including the Youth Services Bureau, DeKalb County Hospice, KishHealth System Foundation, Ben Gordon Center, Tails Humane Society, Horizons Unlimited Foundation, and now the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
According to David, participation on community boards is essential to stewardship. “Helping those who are in need or less able to help themselves is a common goal, but so many people don’t know the most effective way to help. The organizations I have served with and been a part of all have concrete missions that the public can confidently support. By supporting these organizations, we make a positive difference in the lives of our fellow community members.”
David is a graduate of DePauw University with an MBA from NIU. He is fluent in Spanish and has lived in Argentina and in Colombia. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, traveling, world history, and summer weekends in Wisconsin with friends.
“I love the opportunities that were available to me as I grew up in this community. It’s an honor to give back by serving on the Community Foundation Board. Together we can provide ongoing support and direction to donors, grantors, and nonprofit organizations who serve the community and want to make an impact.” – David Castle
