Please join us as we welcome Brenda Jergens, Malta representative, to the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors.
Brenda is currently a trustee on the Village of Malta Board, a member of the Malta Lion’s Club, and has served on several DeKalb County community organizations including DCP Safe, Community Champions Committee, Felony Diversion Community Panel, and others.
“I have lived in Malta for over 35 years and am blessed to call it home,” said Brenda. “All three of my children attended school in Malta with my daughter being the last graduating class of Malta school district before consolidating with DeKalb school district in 2000.”
Brenda loves the small town atmosphere, the peace and quiet, and the feeling of “home”. She describes life there as rewarding and having that small town country charm. From low key summers hanging out on the front porch to reading books by the fire on snowy winter nights. “There is so much to be grateful for here in Malta,” she exclaims. “This little slice of Mayberry is hard to find in a big town or city!”
Brenda and her husband Tom have three adult children, three granddaughters, three dogs, and one inherited African Gray parrot.
In her spare time, Brenda enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, playing cards or board games, swimming, long walks on the beach, and volunteering.
“I am very excited about being of service to others in DeKalb County. Personally, it’s been so rewarding to give of my time and to watch others smile and grow. Smiles are contagious. My hope is to pay it forward and make a difference in the lives of others and the community. I live life one smile at a time.” – Brenda Jergens
