Eligible Nonprofits Encouraged to Register for 7th Annual Give DeKalb County
February 13, 2020Please join us as we welcome Justin Wegener, Sandwich representative, to the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors. As a Sandwich resident for most of his life, Justin enjoys the community feel and generosity he witnesses by those who live and work there. He is proud to be part of a community of people that genuinely care for one another and collectively want the city to thrive.
Justin’s grandfather, James Meyer, served on the original Community Foundation Board (1993-1998) representing the community of Somonauk. “It’s an honor to follow in his footsteps some 26 years later and serve DeKalb County as he did,” said Justin.
Justin was born at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, raised in Sandwich, and graduated from Sandwich High School in 2011. From there he went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. Both he and his wife grew up in Sandwich and were married in 2016. They returned to Illinois in 2017 and currently reside in Yorkville. In May of 2019, their family of two increased to three with the birth of their son Henry.
Justin is a third year insurance agent for First Insurance Group. He has offices in both Sandwich and DeKalb. He enjoys spending time with family, staying active with recreational sports, and spending time outdoors.
“I look forward to getting more deeply involved in the betterment of our communities through active membership in the Foundation Board and the activities and organizations that it supports.” – Justin Wegener
