Scholarship for Students Entering U.S. Service Academies Honors Former Naval Lieutenant
September 25, 2019The DeKalb County Community Foundation is seeking community nominations for the 2020 Excellence in Educations Awards. Awarded in March of each year, Excellence in Education Awards show appreciation for education professionals in DeKalb County. The deadline for community nominations is November 1, 2019.
Excellence in Education Awards fall into five categories:
- Teacher – grades Pre-K to 5
- Teacher – grades 6-8
- Teacher – grades 9-12
- School support staff
- Administration
Award winners receive $1,000 and are recognized during a ceremony in March. Online applications and additional details are found at dekalbccf.org/eie/.
“The awards are a unique opportunity for all communities to put forth the best of the best related to educators and support staff,” said Community Foundation Grants Director Tiffany McQueen Lewis. “It feels great to recognize the selfless individuals who bring their passion, talent, and creativity to work every day to positively impact the lives of students across the county. We are fortunate to be a part of this important cause!”
Funding for the Excellence in Education Awards comes from an endowed Fund at the Community Foundation. Thank you to Yvonne Johnson, a retired elementary school teacher from Sycamore, for her generosity and desire to honor outstanding educators throughout DeKalb County.
