Three workshops will be offered for staff and board members of local nonprofit organizations this fall in Sandwich. The series is being led by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership (DCNP), which is a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation, in collaboration with the Sandwich Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sandwich Public Library District, and Fox Valley Older Adult Services.
The trainings are open to anyone affiliated with a nonprofit organization and are being offered free of charge. Each workshop will be hosted at Fox Valley Older Adult Services, 1406 Suydam Road in Sandwich.
“We’re so proud to be a member of DCNP. The training, partnerships, and networking with other agencies help us stay connected and DCNP provides many opportunities for growth and development,” said Cindy Worsley, Executive Director of Fox Valley Older Adult Services. “We’re excited to host these trainings and hope many are able to join us.”
The series kicks off on September 26 with a training outlining the roles, responsibilities, and duties of nonprofit board members. On October 10, the topic focuses on strategic planning for nonprofits and how organizations can effectively remain true to their mission. The final workshop is on November 28 and it concentrates on fundraising strategies for nonprofit staff and board members.
Each training takes place from 9-10:30 a.m. and will be presented by Dr. Alicia Schatteman, Associate Professor at Northern Illinois University’s Department of Public Administration and Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies.
“There are incredible nonprofits working in southern DeKalb County and we’re very excited to offer these workshops as one small way to contribute to the strength of these organizations,” said Ben Bingle, DCNP Director. “We’re pleased to partner with the Chamber, the Library, and Fox Valley Older Adult Services and we look forward to launching this valuable training series.”
