The Meet & Greet is a great opportunity to learn more about Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP), connect with returning members, and make new friends from all across DeKalb County.

Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) kicks off their 10th year with a Meet & Greet on Sunday, August 26 from 4 – 5 p.m. in The Freight Room at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, located at 475 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore. The Meet & Greet is a fun and easy way to learn more about YEP. High school youth with a desire to make a positive impact in DeKalb County should consider attending. Returning members are highly encouraged to attend and bring a friend.

YEP is youth-led committee of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. High school youth from across DeKalb County participate in monthly meetings, leadership activities, and volunteer outreach events to understand the need for philanthropy in DeKalb County. Youth become familiar with local nonprofits and the impact of grantmaking. Through youth-led meetings, members learn to analyze grant applications, conduct site visits, and identify the potential impact on other youth in DeKalb County. Last year, YEP awarded $12,562 to support programs and projects that directly benefit youth in the community.

“YEP creates great leadership skills and allows members a chance to be involved in the community,” said YEP Outreach Chair Cameron Carani. “High school students should join YEP not only to serve others, but to create great connections and teamwork. I’m especially excited for this year. We have some great additions in the works to make the 10th year extra special.”
