Once again, applications are open for Community Needs Grants and Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Grants, two grants programs available at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Specific to organizations in or serving DeKalb County, IL, Community Needs Grants support community needs of our local nonprofit and community organizations. Funding for this grant program comes from donor generosity to community impact funds at the Foundation.
Open to nonprofit and community organizations in DeKalb County and the Chicagoland area, Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Grants provide support to further music appreciation and education. Funding for this grant program comes from the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund, a donor advised fund at the Community Foundation.

Spring 2017 Community Needs Grant to the Somonauk School District to remove and replace railroad ties in the school playground. By replacing the wooden railroad ties, the amount of minor injuries to children on the playground decreased.
