New Fund Addresses Needs in DeKalb County
May 8, 2018Donors demonstrated their support of nonprofits located in or serving DeKalb County by setting new records during Give DeKalb County. The 24-hour giving day is coordinated by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, which is a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
In its fifth year, 2018 saw the most participating nonprofits, the most donations, the highest number of donors, and the largest amount raised.
More than $552,640 was donated during the 24-hour period with 34 percent of that coming from walk-in donations at the Community Foundation. When combined with $61,915 of matching funds from the bonus pool, the grand total raised for this event exceeds $614,555.
“We’re so excited about the generosity we saw on display during Give DeKalb County,” said Ben Bingle, Director of the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership. “This grand total exceeds even the most optimistic predictions and we have the philanthropic spirit of donors to thank for it. I can’t wait to see these nonprofits put the funds to good use.”
Visit www.GiveDeKalbCounty.org to view results, leaderboards, and to read more about each participating nonprofit organization. An event will be organized to distribute the funds later in May.
