Congratulations to Brittnie Peters, recipient of the 2017 Renaissance Scholarship. Brittnie will receive a $1,000 scholarship award as she returns to school pursuing a degree in nursing at J’Renee College located in Elgin, IL.

During the application process, Brittnie responded to a question about her career goals “I have been in the medical field for about 6 years. With a nursing degree, I will be able to contribute even more to the families and community that I serve. I look forward to promoting health awareness and providing resources to yield healthier family structures.”

Funding for this scholarship award is possible through the generosity of local philanthropist Yvonne Johnson and the DeKalb County Community Foundation. In 2007, Yvonne created the Renaissance Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation. Her desire was to provide educational support to those who are currently part of the work force and plan to attend college for continuing education.
