The Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) Meet & Greet is Sunday, August 27 from 4 – 5 p.m. in The Freight Room at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, located at 475 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore. High school youth with a desire to make a positive impact in DeKalb County should consider attending. Returning members are highly encouraged to make an appearance and bring a friend.
The Meet & Greet is a fun, easy way to check out Youth Engaged in Philanthropy. YEP is a unique, youth led program that teaches and encourages philanthropy among high school youth. During the year, members are guided through a grantmaking process, benefitting youth in DeKalb County. Last year, $11,588 in YEP grants were awarded.
YEP is free to join and meets one time per month through May. Meeting activities include fun hands-on activities and events, guest speakers, leadership skill building, volunteer opportunities, and site visits to nonprofit organizations. Students interested in joining should plan to attend the Meet & Greet to learn more.
“YEP not only opened new and unique doors for my future, but it brought me closer to my community,” said Tyler Hull, 2017/2018 YEP Co-Chair. “I encourage every high school youth in DeKalb County to come and see what we are all about. This is a family for everyone!”
