The Renaissance Scholarship applications are now available for students who were a part of the workforce and are seeking an undergraduate degree. The application deadline is June 30, 2017.
Renaissance Scholarship recipients receive a $1,000 scholarship that is renewable for three succeeding years. Applicants must be residents of DeKalb County. The scholarship will support an individual who has been in the work force and desires to return to the academic world in pursuit of an undergraduate degree in any field of study.
The endowment was started several years ago by the generosity of Yvonne Johnson, retired school teacher of Sycamore.
According to DeKalb County Community Foundation Grants & Community Initiatives Manager, Becky Zantout, “There are few scholarships available for individuals who have opted to go to work after high school and later decide to seek a degree. Our donor has been in the education profession, and knows how hard it is for non-traditional students to receive financial assistance.”
