The DeKalb County Community Foundation is pleased to report that $91,600 in Wurlitzer Foundation Grants were awarded in the fall of 2016 to support music and music education. Recipients include 22 nonprofits and community organizations across the Midwest region of the United States.
Through the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund, established in 2012, the Community Foundation provides grants to further music and music education. The Community Foundation is honored to keep the Wurlitzer name alive in DeKalb County by working with the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Board of Advisors to continue to ‘mean music to millions’ through its grant support of projects that are consistent with its original mission.
Applications for spring 2017 Wurlitzer Foundation Grants will be available online around January 1. Grant applications are due by midnight on March 1 and September 1 of each year. All applications are reviewed by the Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Board of Advisors and funding support is granted based on criteria met and amount requested. Preference is given to 501(c)3 organizations in DeKalb County and the broader Chicago metropolitan area.
