DeKalb County Disaster Recovery Fund Receives $388,659 Grant for Tornado Relief
July 28, 2016Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) is seeking new high school age members from DeKalb County. Interested youth are invited to the Meet & Greet on Sunday, August 28, from 4 – 5 pm in the Freight Room at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, located at 475 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore.
The Meet & Greet marks the beginning of a new YEP season and is an informal event for high school youth to learn more about this unique program from current members. Youth with a desire to improve issues in DeKalb County and create a positive impact on their peers should consider joining.
During the year, youth leaders will guide members through a grantmaking process to benefit youth in DeKalb County. YEP is free to join and meets one time per month until May. Meeting activities include fun hands-on activities and events, guest speakers, leadership skill building, volunteer opportunities, and site visits to nonprofit organizations.
“Not only are we caring and helping out the community around us, but we are also shaping our futures,” says two-year member Jackie DiNatale. “Bring a friend to come and see what YEP is all about.”
Students interested in joining should plan to attend the Meet & Greet on August 28. Contact Becky Zantout, Grants & Community Initiatives Manger at 815-748-5383 or becky@dekalbccf.org with questions.
