July 6, 2016Made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor, The Freight Room acoustic improvement project is now complete! Eight large photos made from sound absorbing material were installed in late June, creating the final touches to improving reverberation in the room. What was once a large meeting room with an echo, is now a large meeting room surrounded in historic photos, complete with audio/video capabilities, internet (wifi) access, and a serving area for refreshments. In fact, due to the improved audio within the room, some presenters have made presentations without the use of a microphone at all.
Sound modifications for The Freight Room started in August of 2015, during which time acoustic panels were added to the ceiling, followed by a thin plaster application for added noise reduction. The final phase of improvements came in way of large historic photos, printed on sound dampening material and proudly displayed around the room.
Over the past year, the quality of sound has greatly improved, making this room an even better choice for hosting meetings, trainings, workshops, and fundraising events.
